Hello, I'm Carl!
I’ve been teaching guitar for almost 20 years, and in that time, I’ve learnt a thing or two about how to get the most out of my students.
Unlike many guitar teachers, I never take a ‘one size fits all’ approach to teaching. Whether you’re 5 or 75, learning the guitar will be much easier if you love the music you’re playing. That’s why I take time to find out what music you like and what you want to achieve. Once I know that, I can design a bespoke learning path using songs you love to teach you the skills you need to achieve your goals, whether that’s playing your first gig or nailing your grades.
About me and my teaching style
My approach to teaching the guitar is entirely focussed on you. I want you to love playing the guitar and look forward to our lessons. For me, there’s nothing better than seeing my students achieve their goals. I’m incredibly proud to have helped hundreds of students organise their first public performance, nail their guitar grades (100% of my students have got distinctions), land their first paid gig, or forge a career in the music industry.
My learner-centric approach has been developed over two-decades of teaching and studying. To make myself the best teacher I can be, I’ve completed many teaching qualifications covering child development and teaching methods, psychology in reference to goal related development, and personal training (level 4). I also have a first aid qualification but thankfully haven’t had to use it yet!
Over the years, I’ve taught students ranging from 5 to 75, and absolute beginner to advanced level.

Purpose built guitar studio in Guildford
I have created a custom space in the comfort of my home in the centre of Guildford. Easy to get to and with good parking, it is the perfect place for you to come and enjoy learning the guitar. I've equipped the studio with everything you could possibly need, including multiple guitars and all the teaching materials and tools needed to take your playing to the next level.
If you're bringing your kids along for lessons, I've got extra seating and the Wi-Fi's quick - so whether you want to put your headphones in and get a bit of work done or watch your child tearing it up on the guitar, we’ve got you covered!
A Guitar Teacher with Real Music Industry Experience!
When you’re looking for a guitar teacher, you want to know they can walk the talk. I’ve been playing the guitar for as long as I can remember, and its taken me to some amazing places! Having completed all my grades, I was accepted to study Guitar Performance at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), where I ended up as a tutor myself 4 years after graduating, alongside teaching privately from home.
After graduating, I was able to put everything I’d learnt to good use. I play in and manage a number of function bands that have performed for the likes of Glive, Mclaren, Hitachi, New Look and the armed forces, both in England and Europe. One of the function bands I play in, XO Party Band, was voted as one of the top wedding bands in the UK! I’ve been able to use my connections within the music industry to help many of my students land paid gigs and launch their careers.
